Starboad's 2012 SUP lineup is fantastic. There are some new exciting things happening with Starboard for 2012. 1st is the expansion of the AST White lineup. They are now offering some more of our favorite boards in the price point line up. The 10'5 X 32 widepoint and the 11'2 X 36 Avanti are now joining the Whopper, Drive, Blend, Big Easy, Atlas and Atlas Wide in the AST White Construction. This is the most economical construction that Starboard offers. The best thing is that you are still getting the legendary Starboard quality, light weight and durability for a great price.
The second thing that is exciting, is that the new 2012 Wood colorway. The combination of red bottom, white pad and wood deck look fantastic, it's a very classic looking board that doesn't give up any performance to look good.

The 3 basic types of construction are:

AST construction is the most economical starboard option, available in AST White, AST Blue, Candy and Silver. The AST White starts at $1129 in 5 of their most popular models. Maximum durability and value.
Tufskin AST technology uses layers of 3 dimensional 400g glass mat wetted out with an expanding epoxy resin system that creates volume within the skin as it cures under pressure. This creates a thick, stiff, and durable sandwiched laminate.

The original Wood technology pioneered by Starboard in 1994. The lightweight fusion blown EPS has PVC reinforcements in bedded for all insert's reinforcements. Military grade fiberglass wraps around the core in an Epoxy resin matrix to form an inner sandwich wall under the combination of a strong and stiff 510kg/m3 0.6mm Australian Pine veneer. |
The final costruction is the Brushed Carbon construction, where the whole board is wrapped in carbon and white paint is hand sanded to reveal just a hint of the carbon fiber below. The boards are monitored by the tightest QC system available. A combination of a ultra light carbon weave and medium density extra high quality PVC sandwich foam wrapped around a light density EPS core.
